Redmires, just outside Sheffield marks the beginning of the Peak District National Park. This track is the Long Causeway and leads from the upper reservoir to Stanage Pole, and beyond to Stanage Edge.
The Long Causeway was originally a medieval packhorse
saltway, with the sole purpose
of transporting salt from Cheshire to Yorkshire.
